Why do people run ultra marathons? Surely that's not enjoyable...
The truth is, everyone has a different reason for coming to a naked event. For some people its a bucket list item. For others it to challenge themselves to improve their mental health. The common theme as to why so many people get involved is to simply live life and feel good about who you are. It's one of the rawest and realest experiences you can get in an age where we are surrounded by superficial nonsense.
We don't believe that nudity should ever be enforced, so the answer is "no".
But... Why do you want to come to an event if you have no intent to participate.
The answer here lies in intent.
If you want to come along to try it but aren't sure you'll be able to then that's totally fine! Come along anyway! Everyone's on a journey to feel comfortable in their skin. Some people dive right in whilst others take baby steps. We are 95% certain within 20 minutes you'll want to get involved. If after your second event you haven't participated, then usually both parties conclude that this isn't the space for you.
If you have no intent on particpating in the social nude space, then you won't receive an invite.
Nearly all of the businesses that run naturist events operate on private premises, so the answer is YES! The Harbour Cruises in Sydney dock at one of the nude beaches and then the disrobing occurs. The photoshoots run by Positively Bare take place in secluded locations well away from the general public. Discretion is always used here and respect to the public (if any are encountered) is always paramount.
Send us an email or reach out to us on social media. Everyone has to go through a screening process to ensure it remains a safe space.
If you have a blank profile or no face photo's on your profile you will probably be ignored. Apologies to the genuine ones we miss, but we receive dozens of messages a day and can't get to them all.
There is a huge imbalance that occurs in both public and private naturist spaces. The overwhelming majority of people involved are solo men. This is amplified to greater than 95% when you look at online spaces.
Imagine you are a female who comes to their first event and you are one of only two females in the room and theres 30 naked guys there.
Not a vibe!
When setting up the GNA Community I simply listened to the concerns of the females within our community and those who have existed in others. I decided that this was the best way to create a safe space for everyone.
A note for the critics, if roles were reversed here I would be limiting the number of female involvement.
Myself and the admin team screen and vet everyone who plans on attending events. It can never be a guarantee that someone with ill intent won't slip through the cracks, but we work very hard and pride ourselves on our ability to keep our community a safe space.
GNA's target population group are those in the 18-49 age bracket. Why? Because the 50+ age bracket have the monopoly on nearly every naturist event and venue in the country. We hope to facilitate younger people embracing their bodies and feeling comfortable in their skin as early as possible.
There is a naturist stereotype.. the 60 year old bearded male who hangs out alone at nude beaches. And look.. there's plenty of validity to why that stereotype exists.
Within the GNA Community we help provide balance to both gender and age. We have a 50:50 gender balance that we adhere too and the median age is mid 30's. We have people from all professions including casual hospitality workers to surgeons and professors. There are many many people who prefer to keep their involvement to themselves which we respect (although it does make marketing incredibly difficult). Many industries cannot seperate nudity from sexual activity and people fear the ramifications of a misinterpreted post. Some of your best friends of neighbours might be involved and you'd never know.
I've been in this space for nearly 10 years now and I've never seen it happen.
People think it will happen due to overtly sexualised society, but if the culture is right and your intent is good.. It won't happen.
